  • October 2019 trial – $3.5 million award, class action for Chicago duty disabled officers and families of officers killed in the line of duty.
  • $2.25 million award, almost 3 times the initial offer. A U.S. Post Office mail truck ran over a pedestrian crossing in a crosswalk. The claimant sustained multiple fractures with multiple surgeries.
  • Kurt Rathman v. Res-Comm Roofing Co. & Lakewood Homes.  Successfully recovered $1.75 million for Plaintiff.  Defendant roofer dropped a 70 lb. bundle of shingles from the roof of the garage as Plaintiff was walking out of the garage of a new, single-family home being built.  Plaintiff suffered a broken neck requiring surgery, right shoulder impingement and right knee derangement, also requiring surgery.  Plaintiff returned to work as a pipefitter, without restrictions.
  • Dr. M.B. v. Wardean Davis and Chicago School Transit Inc.  Successfully recovered $1.7 million for Plaintiff.  Plaintiff and Defendant were traveling south on the Dan Ryan when Defendant’s school bus suddenly swerved left from the exit lane into Plaintiff’s car, driving Plaintiff into concrete median.  Plaintiff, age 65, lost career as an OB/GYN due to hand and shoulder injuries, both requiring surgery.
  • Estate of Wagner v. Panera Bread Co.  Successfully recovered $1.25 million for Plaintiff.  Plaintiff, a 70-year-old woman, tripped over a one-inch entryway defect.  She broke her neck and died six months later.
  • Recovered very substantial sum for pipefitter, who was walking past workers welding over a chemical sewer.  Explosion caused concussive injury and hearing loss.
  • Mary Ellen Safian v. Village of Palatine. One of the few jury verdicts against a municipality for its willful and wanton failure to furnish medical care and protective custody to a disabled pretrial detainee, who allegedly committed suicide while confined in his jail cell.
  • Estate of Kathleen Savio v. Drew Peterson, et al.  Successfully reopened Estate and had Drew Peterson’s uncle removed as executor. Letters of Office issued to our clients to allow investigation and suit in Wrongful Death and other claims. Affirmed by Illinois Appellate Court.  Murder conviction and 38-year sentence in criminal case, prosecuted by State’s Attorney, also affirmed by Illinois Appellate Court.
  • Eileen Majca v. Dr. Stephen Beekil, et al. Argued in the Illinois Supreme Court that potential exposure to HIV or AIDS was sufficient, actionable wrong. Actual exposure test adopted.
  • Estate of Jimmy Martin v. Wexford Health Sources, Inc., Dr. Adebowale Adeleye, Donald Snyder, et al. Successful “11th hour” settlement of prisoner’s wrongful death, medical and prison malpractice case. Successfully proved willful and wanton infliction of cruel and unusual punishment under 8th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
  • Witmer v. Pyne, Pyne v. Witmer. Successfully tried workers’ compensation death case to verdict. Much of his work was predicate for Supreme Court’s landmark decision that agency of employer to employee on special mission is question of fact.
  • Estate of Mark Zdzarski v. Heavenly Bodies, et al. Successfully settled wrongful death and survival claims for failure to protect plaintiff’s decedent from beating by other patrons at “gentleman’s club.” Bouncers failed to properly protect patrons.
